Microneedling: collagen from your own resources
How fine needle pricks trigger skin renewal, how many sessions are needed and when microneedling is not carried out.
Microneedling uses a simple mechanism: the skin repairs itself – you just have to give it the right stimulus.
How it works
Very fine needles create controlled micro-injuries in the upper skin layer. The body responds with its natural repair programme and produces more collagen and elastin. The result is a firmer, more even complexion.
What it helps with
- enlarged pores and uneven skin texture
- acne scars and flat scars
- fine lines
- declining firmness
Procedure
The skin is cleansed and prepared with a numbing cream. The device is then guided evenly over the treatment area. Depending on the area, the session takes 30 to 60 minutes. Finally we apply a soothing serum – the opened channels considerably improve its absorption.
Afterwards
Directly after the treatment the skin is reddened, similar to a mild sunburn. This usually subsides within one to two days. For a few days: no sport, no sauna, no tanning bed – and consistent sun protection.
How many sessions?
For a visible result, three to six sessions about four weeks apart are usually needed. Building collagen takes time; the final result only shows after a few months.
When it is not carried out
We postpone the treatment with acute acne with inflammatory pustules, with infections or open areas in the treatment zone, and with certain skin conditions.
