Permanent laser hair removal reduces unwanted body hair gently and long-term – carried out by a physician at Park Medical in Vienna.
The laser beam is absorbed by the pigment of the hair and converted into heat. This heat specifically damages the hair root while the surrounding skin is spared. Because only hairs in the growth phase are reached, several sessions are needed to capture all hair roots.
After a preliminary examination of skin and hair type we set the parameters and treat a test area. The area is shaved, you receive eye protection, and the laser is then guided over the skin. The sensation is usually described as a brief, warm snap. The duration depends on the area – underarms take only a few minutes.
Slight redness around the hair follicles is normal and subsides quickly. For a few days: no tanning bed, no sauna, no intense sunbathing, plus consistent sun protection. Usually six to ten sessions four to eight weeks apart are needed.
Dark hair on lighter skin responds best. Very light, grey or red hair contains too little pigment and can barely be treated. With fresh tanning, during pregnancy and with certain medications we postpone the treatment.
